Day 18 & 19: Athens

Previous: Rome   Next: Paris

The Airbnb in Athens was our favorite. This is only PART of the food in our welcome gift from our hosts. The Airbnb was gorgeous and full of character. We just loved it.

View from the Airbnb terrace.

Parlaiment in Athens, including its tomb of the unknown soldier with an hourly changing of the guard.

One of multiple Byzantine churches in the city.

Greek Orthodox church.

Another tiny Byzantene church.

Hardian’s Arch

Temple of Zeus

Flag atop the Acropolis, seen from below.

View of Lycabettus Hill.

There are so many ruins scattered throughout Athens.

Evening view from the Airbnb.

We were the first in line to get into the Acropolis.

Odeon of Herodes Atticus, seen from above.

Guys with pom-poms on their shoes and tassels on their legs. I’m assuming it’s some elite guard that raised the flag.

You can see the Temple of Zeus behind me.

Walk to Ancient Agora.

Temple of Hephaestus in the distance.

Temple of Hephaestus, up close.

Later, we did a food tour. This was some pan-fried cheese.

These are the amazing doughnuts that we had for dessert.

Night view of the Parthenon from our Airbnb.
