Blog Themes Tutorial

Before installing a WordPress theme, I recommend that you do have your basic structure implemented, along with a few categories and posts. See my [cref blog-basics-tutorial] Post for more information.

Choose a Theme

My two favorite theme websites are [Free WordPress Themes] and [Wordpress Themes Directory]. I recommend that you choose your favorite 4 or 5 themes and test them on your actual blog.

Install Your Theme

To add a new theme to your WordPress installation, follow these basic steps:

1. Download the theme zip file.
2. Log in to the WordPress Administration Panel.
3. Select Appearance > Add New Themes
4. Use the sub-menu at the top of the page to select “Upload”
5. Browse for the zip file you downloaded and click “Install Now”
6. Click on the Preview link to preview the theme or the Activate link to upload the theme to your blog.

Change Themes

To change to a different theme, follow these steps:

1. Log in to the WordPress Administration Panel.
2. Select Appearance > Themes
3. Under each theme, you can click on the Preview link to preview the theme or the Activate link to upload the theme to your blog.
